Description

Up for auction is a PRISTINE copy of John Coltrane's - Ole' on beautiful red & purple MONO labels. This early 1960's release for Atlantic Records is a major jump in the evolution of the "Coltrane sound". A watershed recording, if ever there was one. It features Eric Dolphy using the pseudonym George Lane due to contractual restrictions, Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner,  Art Davis, Reggie Workman, and Elvin Jones. Artists using pseudonyms was actually quite common among players in those days. Art Pepper, after losing his cabaret card, and just being released from prison on heroin possession charges notoriously played on an LP under the pseudonym Art Salt....
This is an often overlooked Atlantic release that has Coltrane accompanied by trumpet, two bass players, not to mention Dolphy on alto sax and flute....
Do not miss this. It must be in your collection.....
Condition: LP is MINT,  Jacket EX  ( AUDIOPHILE COPY )
