Description

Up for bid is an original deep groove mono pressing of John Coltrane's Coltrane .  This was released on the Prestige label and is Prestige 7105.  Featured are the original yellow Prestige labels with the firework motif and 203 South Washington Ave, Bergenfield NJ address.  Also of note is that this features the red tinted cover photo.  Dead wax etching of "RVG" on both sides of the LP indicates the participation of the legendary Rudy Van Gelder.  This amazing recording is Coltrane's first as bandleader and he is joined by Johnny Splawn, Sahib Shihab, Paul Chambers, Albert "Tootie" Heath, Mal Waldron and Red Garland.

The jacket is in VG+ condition with writing on the back cover as indicated in the included picture.  There is also ring wear on the back cover.  There is no seam splitting and only light wear around the edges.  The LP looks a strong VG, but play grades VG+.  There are no skips anywhere in the recording and only very light background noise.  This is not a perfect copy of the record, but has playback that is pretty amazing considering that this is a 55 year old record.  Don't miss out on a nice copy of this important recording.
