Description
This is a very nice copy of ORG’s 45 RPM 2-LP release (ORG 012) of the John Coltrane Quartet’s album Ballads with John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, & Elvin Jones. This is a reissue of the original impluse! LP A-32 and is in stereo. It is a limited numbered release No. 00906. When I first bought this set new, the records were cleaned with Audio Intelligent cleaning fluids on a VPI record cleaner, followed with a second cleaning on an Audio Desk ultra sonic record cleaner, and treated with LAST record preservative. More recently the records were recleaned with the latest version of the Audio Desk ultra sonic record cleaner. It has also been demagnetized with a Furutech DeMag. The record was recently play graded using a Benz Micro LPS cartridge on a VPI Classic 4 turntable. I previously only played the record a few times on a similar set-up with either a Lyra Parnassus or Lyra Kleos cartridge.
There is a small scuff (~ 1/8”) at the very beginning of side 1 which results in about 22 light ticks for approximately the first 30 seconds of the side. After that, side 1 is very quiet with only 2 additional light ticks noted. Side 2 is very quiet with only 5 light ticks noted. Side 3 is very quiet with only 3 light ticks noted. Side 4 has a small mark or discoloration in the vinyl near the end of the side but does appear to result in any surface noise at that spot. I did note approximately 12 random light ticks over the entire side but it plays mostly very quietly.
The heavy, glossy, gatefold jacket is in mint condition with no seam splits, bends, or tears. The records are in excellent condition with only the two small flaws noted.
