Description

I'm not going to call this "rare" but I can't find any other examples of it on the internet and there is no entry for this NFS copy on Discogs (neither with the stamp nor the same etchings in the runouts). It belonged to a gentleman that was a DJ from the late 50 to the early 80s. As such, he took very good care of his records. However, this does have a couple of light scuffs on side one as well a couple of very fine hairline scratches, but side two is very clean in terms of cosmetic condition.
The etchings in the runouts:

  • Runout A Side: PRLP-7142-A ⇀AB RVG
  • Runout B Side: PRLP-7142⋅B AB RVG [sideways B]

I listen to the entire record very carefully and here is my report:
There were no skips or repeats (as it should be). The spaces between tracks will be largely free of any crackling. You'll hear occasional random light ticks throughout the entire record, and during Good Bait there will be a series of evident light ticks at the beginning of the piano solo for about 12 revolutions. During the bass solo the ticks go away, but light surface noise emerges occasionally. During I Want To Talk About You there are only random light ticks scattered throughout. Otherwise the rest of the track has a pretty clean playback. The beginning of Russian Lullaby will have some evident surface noise during the quiet piano intro, but the rest of the track is unaffected - you'll be shocked at quiet the spaces are during the sax solo toward the end of the song. However, little bits of light crackling and light ticks will emerge at random times through out the other songs on side two.
I should note that this record has not received any kind of "deep groove" cleaning by me so if you have an ultrasonic cleaner (or similar) then you can almost certainly improve the playback quality beyond its already surprisingly clean playback for such an old jazz record. The light ticks mentioned during Good Bait though come from a hairline scratch so cleaning won't affect that of course.
Please review the pictures for further details on the condition of the jacket.
Your record will be shipped in a BOX with plenty of cushion. It will also be wrapped in shipper's wrap inside for further moisture protection. The record will be removed from the jacket and placed in the inner sleeve outside of the cover (and secured with cardboard) so that it doesn't slide around inside the jacket and create damage during transit. If the record has a unique picture sleeve the record will be placed in a generic poly-sleeve or recycled sleeve for shipping.
REGARDING SHIPPING: The default shipping option that you see is Media Mail which is inexpensive, but sometimes unpredictable with no guaranteed delivery time. I have shipped over 2000 records using Media Mail without any hassles, but there have been a few instances where the record took a month to arrive and was stuck at a sorting facility for two or more weeks. If you want a faster method with a guaranteed delivery time I suggest that you choose the Priority Mail option.

My Grading System Definitions:
NM -  10/10 playback quality. Record is open, but sounds like new
EX -   9/10 playback quality. Might have a minor playback disruption or two, but nearly perfect in playback otherwise
VG++ 8/10 playback quality. Will have more minor disruptions than EX but still really good playback
VG+ - 7/10 playback quality. Will have light surface noise between tracks and maybe during fades and softer passages
VG   - 6/10 playback quality. Will have evident surface noise between tracks and softer passages/fades, but won't disrupt the listening experience most of the time. Might have ticks as well.
VG- - 5/10 playback quality. Will have obvious surface noise all the time, but not necessarily ticks or pops.
G+  - 4/10 playback quality. Will be crackly with some pops and ticks
G    - 3/10 playback quality. Will be crackly with plenty of pops and ticks
F    - 2/10 will have skips and likely be very crackly with ticks and pops. Likely warped as well.
W   - 1/10 will have skips and/or repeats. Will have lots of "snap crackle and pop" and probably warped as well.
