Description
Recorded in 1963, this first stereo pressing is in fabulous condition. !MPULSE! A-40 STEREO, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman. The gatefold cover is in splendid condition, still glossy, with only a small amount of wear. The album is quiet and very dynamic. I hear no flaws when played on my Linn LP12 trhough Quad Electrostats. Hand etched in runout grooves is record numbers, side 1 AS 40 A-1 and side 2, AS 40 B-1. Stamped on each side is 'VanGelder' and 'stereo'. Album and sleeve are in Excellent condition.

GRADING (Done visually, based on Goldmine)
Near Mint (NM or M-)
The record should show no obvious signs of wear and will be glossy/shiny. A sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. No cracks, scratches or warps.
Excellent (EX or VG++)
One or two light marks visible on the disc at most, otherwise full gloss. No cracks, scratches or warps. Sleeve shows 1-2 marks, nothing too major, maybe at the edges.
Very Good Plus (VG+)
A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled.
Record surfaces may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Maybe also slight warps that do not affect the sound.
Sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly bent corners, or a slight seam split.
Very Good (VG)
Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during the intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
