John Denver Display - huge number of goodies.

This is my last (I think) singer I’ll be auctioning off. He’s actually my favourite singer as you’ll see by the lengths I went to to get his autograph, funeral notice, tickets for not one, but two concerts with one being the Royal Albert Hall, 10 mint stamps worth 1.25 each, a program from a concert and last but not least, the single Annie’s Song.

Here’s just a brief bio on the best singer in the world….

John Denver, born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. on December 31, 1943, was an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actor. He was one of the most popular and successful folk musicians of the 1970s, known for his smooth tenor voice and heartfelt songs.

Denver was born in Roswell, New Mexico, and grew up in various locations due to his father's military career. He started playing guitar at an early age and became interested in folk music during his college years. After dropping out of college, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music.

Denver's breakthrough came in the late 1960s when he joined the Chad Mitchell Trio, replacing Chad Mitchell himself. He left the group in 1969 to embark on a solo career. His first solo album, "Rhymes & Reasons," was released in 1969 and included the hit single "Leaving on a Jet Plane," which became his first number one song.

Throughout the 1970s, John Denver achieved tremendous success with a string of hit songs, including "Take Me Home, Country Roads," "Rocky Mountain High," "Sunshine on My Shoulders," "Annie's Song," and "Thank God I'm a Country Boy." He became known for his heartfelt lyrics, often celebrating nature, the environment, and his love for the outdoors.

Denver's popularity extended beyond his music career. He hosted several television specials and appeared in films, including "Oh, God!" with George Burns. He was also involved in environmental and humanitarian causes, advocating for conservation and raising awareness about world hunger.

Tragically, John Denver died on October 12, 1997, at the age of 53, when his experimental aircraft crashed into Monterey Bay, California. His music continues to resonate with audiences around the world, and he is remembered as one of the most influential folk musicians of his time.
