The very FIRST Takoma LP, First Press,
this was Fahey's debut to the world, excepting a very small (100 copies only) private release in 1959 of earlier recordings of this material.
The cover states "This record is a limited pressing, second edition." This refers to the lost 1959 recording as the "first" edition
This first TAKOMA release even precedes the Riverboat Records RB1 edition, which was released in 1965. Incredibly hard to find in clean condition, when found at all, this historic LP is the cornerstone of any serious John Fahey collection.
* (I can, at request of winning bidder only, permanently repair the seam splits, applying a single strip of acid-free, archival, clear DOCUMENT REPAIR TAPE across the split. This specially formulated tape will never peel, flake, yellow or out-gas upon the cover. It is a professional repair that will preserve the edges of the cover through your lifetime and beyond. I do this VERY well, with years of experience in custom framing and archival work. Still, it is a choice for YOU to make.
I HAVE NOT TAPED THESE SEAMS YET and WILL NOT unless asked at auction end. The repaired seams would be tight and appear 100% closed with no crack or line showing. I usually run the strip the full length of the seam; giving an "as manufactured" look. The seam will be glossy, but otherwise appear as manufactured: completely sealed with no sign of the split. -Your choice)
This LP is kept in a protective, clear poly outer-sleeve, as you shall receive it.
Vinyl inside anti-static rice paper sleeve.

On Mar-01-07 at 02:52:23 PST, seller added the following information: NOTE! -regarding the 1959 BLIND JOE DEATH release:
That was on the "FONOTONE" label... a semi-professional, Do-It-Yourself company that basically provided a closet sized booth and a microphone. Fahey's playing had grown substantially in the 5 years since that recording; which he was keenly aware of.
He re-recorded much of that material fresh for this 1964 issue, now on his own, brand new TAKOMA label, with recording conditions under his own control. Therefore this LP for auction is actually a completely different album than the 1959 "first edition" of 100 on the Fonotone label, of BLIND JOE DEATH.
This 1964 edition; the FIRST recording to ever be released on the TAKOMA label, was made in an edition of only several hundred; most of which have not survived in anything close to collectible condition. This LP is one of the very few still in existence that are still in excellent condition.
