Description
This is an excellent vintage LP by John Hartford on Warner Bros. WS 1916, entitled "Aereo-Plain," from 1971.
Personnel: John Hartford (vocals, guitar, banjo); Norman Blake (vocals, guitar, mandolin); Tut Taylor (vocals, dobro); Vassar Clements (vocals, guitar, violin, fiddle, viola, cello); Randy Scruggs (vocals, bass). "Recorded at Glaser Sound Studios, Nashville, Tennessee and Electric Lady Studios, New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Sam Bush and John Hartford. AEREO-PLAIN is an essential classic. Hartford had already been recording for a good part of the previous decade, and his song "Gentle on My Mind" had become first a hit and subsequently a standard. This album is a perfect combination of his love for traditional music and a hefty dose of his own idiosyncratic and endearingly friendly personality. A romantic through and through, Hartford sings clearly and poetically about not just lost love, but also lost cultural guides and trends (such as on "Steamboat Whistle Blues," "First Girl I Knew," and "Back in the Goodle Days"). The players on this album are sympathetically matched and include some of the leading lights of the modern bluegrass world. AEREO-PLAIN was followed the next year by the equally praise-worthy MORNING BUGLE."
Original USA white label promotional pressing, see photos of labels below. This was manufactured in extremely limited quantities, primarily for radio station play only. This one "leaked out" to the public before it had a chance to be played, however!
Labels are perfectly clean! There are no stickers and no writing! No spindle marks!
Heavy vinyl disc appears perfect and unplayed! There are absolutely no marks, no fingerprints, and no warping!
The jacket is excellent! It is made of thick brown stock. Note promo timing strip sticker on back. You know how older black and white LP jackets always have tons of ring wear? Amazingly, this one does not. The grade is NM because there are no splits, no bent corners, no ring wear, and no writing!
This is NOT a cut-out LP, there are absolutely no cut corners, saw marks, or drill holes! No bar code on the back cover.
Includes original NM printed inner sleeve and MINT condition limited edition lyric sleeve!
