Description
This is a very first press of Mind Games released in the UK on 16 November 1973
The matrix numbers are YEX 927 1-U and YEX 928 1-U Also etched into the run outs are SW-1-3414-Z8 on side 1 and SW-2-3414-Z8 on side 2 which are the American matrix numbers that were now appearing on UK Apple first presses Also in the run out of side one is an etched DR W-R-T-G which I imagine relates to John's Moniker Dr Winston O'Boogie
The sleeve is in very good condition - it has some corner rubbing and a little feathering at the opening but no writing or rips and all the writing, including the pinched spine, is fully readable.
It has the correct first press inner which you don't see on a lot of on other Mind Games for sale. It is made of softly textured cardboard and 3 of the corners are finished off at a 45 degree angle. Condition wise it has some age marks and a small 2" split at the bottom.
The record itself is in excellent condition. It still retains a nice shine though there are a few light marks to be seen that do not interfere with the playback. I haven't played it for years though last time I did I noted that it played through beautifully - just the occasional spot of very light crackle.
Overall a solid example of a very first press - pinched spine sleeve, correct inner and great audio.
