Description
Original UK Apple label stereo press LP.
The second solo album by John Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band released in October 1971 and recorded during May to July. John Lennon was in the middle of his legal seperation from Paul McCartney and was living between London & New York. He got together with old friends, such as George Harrison, Nicky Hopkins, as well as Phil Spector to produce what was to become his most popular album and a film.
This is the later first issue with the glossy sleeve, the plain inner, the fold-out poster, the pig postcard and the Apple label credits, with the -1U -1U matrices.
The 'Printed In England' glossy sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light corner/edge wear and scuffs, with some light storage rubbing on the outer cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact and in EX condition. The fold-out poster and postcard are intact, with some light foxing and in EX condition.
The record is in visually EX condition, with a few faint hairlines/scuffs visible on side 1 and one or two small needle marks/scuffs and a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines visible on side 2. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on each side. The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves.Overall, still a really great, loud & lively listen. The matrix nos. are; YEX-865-1U stamper 1-GTO, YEX-866-1U stamper 3-RPA. This is one of the later copies of the first pressing of the original UK stereo issue of this iconic 1971 album!
