Description
This is a lovely, fully complete original early 1970s copy of JOHN LENNON’s classic ‘IMAGINE’ album and an ultra rare CONTRACT PRESSING version. It comes with the inner sleeve, the poster and the postcard. Released on the Apple label in 1971, the catalogue number is PAS 10004.
The vinyl is in lovely EX/EX- condition, just a very few light marks visible, plays through fine and sounds great. Side 1 has a 1U matrix, PORKY stamped in the runout groove but NO standard EMI mothers and stampers – it has a number 6 at 9 o’clock in the runout groove. Side 2 also has a 1U matrix, PECKO stamped in the runout groove and a number 4 at 9 o’clock in the runout groove. The ridges on the labels also indicate that this is a rare contract pressing – see photos.
The original lyric inner sleeve has a small split at the bottom and some wear and staining – see photos.
The postcard is in very good shape (though with faint spotting on the rear).
The poster has pinholes in the four corners, and residue from Sellotape possibly too in the corner, with a tear mark in the bottom right corner, but it is complete and otherwise not torn.
The laminated Garrod & Lofthouse cover has a pinched spine at both ends and thin inner flaps. It is in very nice VG+ condition though with some discolouration near the spine on front and back probably caused by exposure to bright light/sunshine.
Overall a very nice, totally complete and very scarce contract pressing of this great album.
