John Lennon Plastic Ono Band Debut Self-Titled LP UK 1st Press [Ex+/Ex-]

Description

An original 1st press of POB on the UK Apple label. Matrix 1U/1U. The early 1970 copies were pressed heavy for the Xmas market. Stampers 1-OP/2-LO. Not one of the very earliest 1st pressings - but most certainly would have been available whilst the album was high up the charts. If you're someone who is looking for an out and out top level copy for audio - read on! The vinyl comes housed in an original super-slim spine cover. There's an original inner from the time - BUT not the original lyric/bespoke inner sleeve.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wow, I've listened to many a good copy - but this title is ridiculously fussy. Many many really excellent copies will STILL not be able to deliver that true top-level rendition. But this example is probably the cleanest copy I've ever witnessed [surfaces like a mirror] - and the audio is pretty much faultless. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback without deviation. It truly is difficult to be able to give out a grading like this. On a title like this one - almost an impossible find. Thanks to those early stamper numbers you are close on to those original masters. This baby plays clean as a whistle intro and inbetweens - the whole way through. Even the bell chimes at the start are unhindered. Those super fussy tracks at the side end of side ALL play beautifully clean. Nigh on faultless...Look At Me, GOD, Mummy's Dead... so so tricky. But totally clean as a whistle. At worst a couple of crackles in a couple of spots per side. Beautiful audio as EMI were so adept at. You will not find a better playing copy - period. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex-) In great shape and definitely the very 1st issue with that super-slim spine. The cover seems to have escaped the worst of the common fade issues that this title suffers from. A few thumbnail creases front and back. Not much edge wear apparent. All text on the spine is fully legible. A touch of light wear in one spot. Overall the cover retains very good rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits. Remember - its not the bespoke inner.
