Description

This was John Lennon's third solo album and probably his most controversial.  Originally released in the U.S. and Canada in June of 1972,  'Sometime In New York City' was seen as being too weighed down by overly political and sexist issues and in my opinion, received unfair and scathing negative reviews because of that.  I feel the album contains some of Lennon's most powerful and heartfelt material......"Woman is the Nigger of The World",  "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "Luck of The Irish", "New York City",  ....these are all terrific songs.  Is anyone writing this kind of music today?   The second Lp of live material recorded in 1969 and 1971 is historically interesting but mostly forgettable.
The copy I am offering is a VERY 1st Canadian pressing from June 1972.  It is almost flawless in every respect and made rarer still with regards to one detail:  The inclusion of an 8.5" x 11"  sheet of paper known as the 'Justice For John & Yoko,  Committee Immigration Petition Form'.  This double-sided printed form allows for the individual to collect signatures, fold the form and easily mail it because postage was paid for by USPS.  This extremely rare piece of printed paper was only placed inside the first 2,000 or so copies of this 2-Lp set.  Most were immediately discarded and thrown in the garbage.  This one has survived and is in near-perfect condition.
Condition of Gatefold Jacket: Near Mint ~ Mint.....Incredible example....the slightly textured matt cover is made with heavy, thick boards and reveals a wide and sturdy spine....truly remarkable.... I've never seen a nicer copy.
Condition of both double-sided inner-sleeves: Near Mint.....printed on slightly thicker bond,  showing some minor creases but NO splits or tears....beautiful!
Condition of Postcard: Near Mint....flawless.....image is printed on the glossy side; the other side is blank and matt.
Condition of Petition Form: Near Mint....this is a true piece of John Lennon memorabilia.  It reflects his long and arduous struggle to stay in the United States.  This is NOT a recent photocopy.  Buyer will quickly realize that when he/she holds this naturally aged piece of paper and when properly examined, some of the printing ink has seeped through to the other side. This does not occur  with our current,  modern photocopy machines.
Condition of both Records: Near Mint ~ Mint.....as clean as you'll ever hope to find these records......both records look unplayed.....superb gloss to ALL  4 sides.  Labels look near-perfect and show no spindle marks.  The audio is bold, detailed and perfectly balanced.
