Description
John Martyn - Solid Air
Original 1973 vinyl LP, on pink rim Island labels, in gatefold sleeve. Original inner missing, and replaced by CBS company inner from the same era.
Disc grades as strong VG. A lot of very light hairlines, and some light scuffs here and there, with a few light scratches. The worst of these are found on track B1, with four light marks (see photos), most of which don’t affect play, and a couple of slightly heavier, but these only cause a few repeating pops right at the start of the track, and a few more later in the same track. Generally the disc plays through very well - closer to VG+ overall - with just some light surface noise that’s really only audible between tracks, and some light clicks and pops in places.
Sleeve grades as Good. Some wear to the edges and corners, including the beginning of a split on the bottom seam of the rear pocket. Some creases along the top and bottom seams and spine. The spine is a little fragile with some wear and tear, and a slight split in the centre (see photos). The front cover has some light dig marks (only visible in certain light) and the back has some light ring wear, but nothing major. The inner gatefold spread is in surprisingly nice shape, with just some wear to the side edges.
Overall, a nice playable budget copy of this scarce first pressing.
