JOHN MAYALL - 'LOOKING BACK'

1969 UK 1st PRESS *MONO* LP

My listings a this week include an extensive collection of albums by the 'Godfather of the British Blues' scene - John Mayall.

His musical career spans fifty years and he has just released his 57th album. However, most notable period of his work ocurred during the late '60s, which is where most of this collection dates from.

He was the founder of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and has been influential in the careers of many instrumentalists, including: Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Peter Green, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Mick Taylor, Don "Sugarcane" Harris, Harvey Mandel, Larry Taylor, Aynsley Dunbar, Hughie Flint, Jon Hiseman, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Andy Fraser, Johnny Almond, Jon Mark, Walter Trout, Coco Montoya, and Buddy Whittington. & his Bluesbreakers.

All discs in this collection have been put together by a single collector over many years and represent a rare opportunity to acquire most of his greatest LPs, all in outstanding condition.

This retrospective collection contains tracks dating from April 1964 to December 1967 and includes performances by many of his collaborators which include: Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green, Keef Hartley, John McVie, Mick Taylor & others.

The disc itself is a rare 1st MONO pressing on the unboxed, ungrooved red & silver Decca label: LK.5010

It is housed within an outer laminated 'Clout & Baker' printed gatefold cover with a format indicator hole on the rear panel & stereo/mono numbers on the spine.

Complete with its original red/mono poly-lined inner-sleeve.

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT +

A superb set with just a small handful of tiny spindle trails to each centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

Immaculate, unmarked playing surfaces which shine 'as new' in strong daylight with no marks or blemishes whatsoever. Close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals a sparkling rainbow shine and some faint innersleeve removal/storage marks but no scratches or any other problems.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This outstanding sounding copy has received just a few careful plays on high-end equipment and my careful playcheck found no evidence of any groove/play wear, background noise, clicks, pops or other audible faults or distractions. Tough to find a better copy.

Cover

EXCELLENT -

An extremely respectable example of this lavish cover with a bright & unfaded front leaf which bears just a small light crease to the lower right corner and some light handling wear to the right edge but no tears to the delicate hinge area. the rear panel is completely unworn and the inside of the gatefold, with its interesting array of photos & memorabilia, is clean & blemish-free. All seams and the delicate spine corners are fully intact & undamaged and the spine is clean, white & fully worded.

Inner-sleeve

EXCELLENT

Clean & bright with no signficant signs of wear.

Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp to UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.

I carefully play every record I sell on an EMT 950 transcription turntable at volume and list all visual and audible faults.

All the photos in this listing have been taken by myself and are of the actual items for sale.

All records are professionally & securely in custom-made record mailing boxes with the disc removed from the cover.
