My listings a this week include an extensive collection of albums by the 'Godfather of the British Blues' scene - John Mayall.

His musical career spans fifty years and he has just released his 57th album. However, most notable period of his work ocurred during the late '60s, which is where most of this collection dates from.

He was the founder of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and has been influential in the careers of many instrumentalists, including: Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Peter Green, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Mick Taylor, Don "Sugarcane" Harris, Harvey Mandel, Larry Taylor, Aynsley Dunbar, Hughie Flint, Jon Hiseman, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Andy Fraser, Johnny Almond, Jon Mark, Walter Trout, Coco Montoya, and Buddy Whittington. & his Bluesbreakers.

All discs in this collection have been put together by a single collector over many years and represent a rare opportunity to acquire most of his greatest LPs, all in outstanding condition.

This superbly recorded & great sounding album from 1967 was their 4th release on the deep-grooved, unboxed red Decca label: LK 4890

It is housed within a front laminated 'MacNeill Press' printed mono cover.

Complete with its original poly-lined inner-sleeve.

A vivid & vibrant set with just a touch of wear to the centre hole but no other blemishes or wear.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Both playing surfaces of this fine copy are clean & glossy. Careful inspection in strong daylight shows up some harmless inner-sleeve storage marks on side 2 and the disc's only significant blemish, a 2mm scratch on track 1 on side 1. Close examination beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals nothing more than a sparkling rainbow shine but no other marks or wear whatsoever.

Play: EXCELLENT +

A superbly recorded album which produces outstanding quality sound. This copy displays no traces of any groove/play wear on or between any tracks and would have graded Near Mint if not for 6 light repeating clicks on track 1, side 1 form the aforementioned scratch. Apart from that however, the entire album is fault-free.

EXCELLENT +

An extremely impressive example with a perfect unscratched and undamaged high-gloss front panel laminate which bears no creasing of any kind - not even a single 'thumbnail' or spine bend. There is a small bruise to the lower right corner but no wear at all to the other or either opening edge. the rear panel is clean & white with just a hint of unavoidable storagewear rubbing but no majors marks or any writing or missing paper. Both seams are fully intact and the spine is clean, square and fully worded with factory pinched ends clearly visible.

Clean & flat with minor storagewear creasing to the corners but no writing, tears or splits.

• Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp to UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
• I carefully play every record I sell on an EMT 950 transcription turntable at volume and list all visual and audible faults.
