They're reissuing John Prine's beloved album, Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings, in a beautiful digital deluxe edition on September 12, 2025, to mark its 30th anniversary. This Grammy-nominated favorite is deeply appreciated for its warmth, wit, and heart, and this new version gives fans a wonderful chance to connect even more deeply with one of Prine's most joyful and creatively vibrant periods. Originally released in 1995, Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings followed Prine's Grammy-winning comeback album, The Missing Years. It solidified his place as one of America's most gifted songwriters. With production by Howie Epstein of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the album captures Prine at a personal and artistic peak, full of the joy of new love, fatherhood, and a seamless creative harmony. Featuring performances by an amazing group, including Heartbreakers pianist Benmont Tench and guest vocals from Carlene Carter and Marianne Faithfull, Lost Dogs & Mixed Blessings beautifully showcases Prine's exceptional lyrical talent. The album smoothly moves from the playful satisfaction of "Ain't Hurtin' Nobody" to the epic storytelling of "Lake Marie," a song that Bob Dylan once named as one of his favorites.
