Description
John Prine - Sweet Revenge, Atlantic K40524
A fantastic collection of songs - one of the best that Prine ever delivered. There's the usual combination of story songs, character sketches, and novelty numbers that you'll find on any of Prine's 1970s albums, but the mood is perhaps more upbeat than any of his other works. The more nonsensical numbers ("Often Is a Word I Seldom Use", "Onomatopoeia") are delivered with enough personality that they stand alongside the compassionate "Christmas in Prison" or the self-depreciating title track. There's very little cynicism here, just a breezy good humor and a lesson that fantastic songs don't have to be dark and deep.
Grading scale: NM > EX > VG+ > VG > Good > Poor)
Vinyl: EX. Stunning showing only slight tiny signs of use. The finish is shiny with some light marks where the vinyl has been in and out of the inner sleeve a few times. Labels are superb, clean and bright without marks. Spindle shows no sign of wear. And no warps.
Cover: VG+. SPINE: Clear, readable text | SEAMS: Top & Bottom intact without splits | CREASES: None or minor only | RING WEAR : Light,(barely noticeable) | DEFACING: Aged patina | (Actual images so you can check the condition)
