Description
Rare original 10" blue shellac 78rpm record from the 1930's in outstanding E condition! Johnny Almeida's Hawaiians (featuring Bill Lincoln and Trio) "Kee Lei Lilia" b/w "Holoholo Kaa" - HT-128/129. Shiny surface with a few extremely light non-sounding scuffs. Some background from noted Hawaiian music discographer and historian Malcolm Rockwell: "These are original issues of the Hawaiian Transcriptions and HT/KGU record labels. Hawaiian Transcriptions was the first indy record label in Hawaii. They were recorded in the 1930s by KGU (Radio) which was part of the Advertiser publishing group. The studios were on the top floor of the Advertiser Newspaper building and, when instantaneous lacquer disc recording machines first became available generally, KGU was the first in Hawaii to have them. They marketed these records with the lovely lei design to KGU's loyal fans who had been clamoring for records they could own of their favorite local radio performers. All were pressed in Los Angeles." Buyer pays media mail shipping in U.S. at $6.00 (PLEASE NOTE THIS IS $2.00 MORE THAN THE DEFAULT EBAY SHIPPING AMOUNT, PLEASE WAIT FOR MY INVOICE WITH THE CORRECT SHIPPING AMOUNT BEFORE PAYING) or priority mail at $12.00.
