Johnny Hodges - Castle Rock LP

Norgran. MGN-1048. Yellow/Black deep groove label. Mono. USA 1955.

First pressing. Thick cover, Rice paper inner sleeve.


Graded cover/record VG+/NM
Cover looks very fine, shiny surface front and solid spine and seams except part of top seam split from opening,
and writing on back.
Lables has minimal signs of use, vinyl is shiny without marks and plays excellent.


On five tracks: Johnny Hodges - alto saxophone, Al Sears - tenor saxophone, Lawrence Brown - trombone,
Emmett Berry - trumpet, Leroy Lovett — piano, Lloyd Trotman — bass, Sonny Greer — drums. Billy Strayhorn - piano on one.

Three tracks same setting as above but with Joseph Marshall on drums.

Four tracks has instead Nelson Williams on trumpet and Alfred McKibbon on drums.

An awesomely talented jazz alto saxophonist and band leader, best known for his standout work with Duke Ellington.
This was one of his most sucessfull early LPs.
