This is a beauty. Presented here, in its original record company sleeve, is a very rare seven inch triangle centre single from 1958 'SHAKE BABY SHAKE' recorded by Australian Rock and Roll artist JOHNNY O'KEEFE with the DEE JAYS and written by CHAMPION JACK DUPREE.
The ‘B’ side is called ‘REAL WILD CHILD’ and was written by O'KEEFE, GREENAN & OWENS.
This is the original first issue TRI-CENTRE CORAL recording that bears the matrix number 45-VC-104 779-1C and
45-VC-104 780-1C (side B).
Released on by CORAL with the reference number 45-Q 72330, this record is considered an extremely difficult rock and roll record to find - and at nearly 53 years old the stunning NEAR MINT condition qualifies this superb item to be a virtual gem.
There is no spidering visible on the label and the spindle hole shows little sign of the record even being placed on a turntable.
Coral Records was the Decca Records subsidiary formed in 1949 which went on to record opo artists such as as Buddy Holly, The McGuire Sisters, Teresa Brewer and, briefly in the late 1950s, Debbie Reynolds with such songs as "Tammy". Coral was absorbed by MCA Records in the late 1960s and the MCA Coral label became the company's mid-line and budget reissue label in the U.S. and internationally throughout the 1970s.
As with the vinyl, the sleeve is also in NEAR MINT condition and a testament to the ultra care that has been afforded the item.
This single has been very lovingly looked after and carefully stored for over fifty years - a remarkable copy!
