Description
This is an original 1971 US pressing of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, released on Scepter Records (SPS 588X). This landmark recording represents the early evolution of the legendary collaboration between Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Before it became a global stage phenomenon, Joseph was conceived as a pop cantata, and this specific release features The Joseph Consortium delivering a vibrant, eclectic performance that blends rock, pop, and traditional musical theater elements. The album is famous for its stylistically diverse numbers, ranging from the Elvis-inspired Pharaoh's Story to the French ballad parody Those Canaan Days and the iconic Any Dream Will Do. This copy is in Excellent (EX) condition and is housed in the unique Unipak-style gatefold cardboard sleeve featuring the classic yellow and white graphic art. A vital piece of musical theater history, this LP captures the youthful energy and creative spark that launched two of the most successful careers in Broadway history.
