All the hallmarks of the original - see photos below - courtesy of http://www.joydiv.org/I3.htm#2
- The original has a serrated edge round the outside of the label. We suspect that none of the fakes have this - but it is impossible to say for sure.
- The original is on black vinyl.
- The original has EG scratched into the run out groove (as well as the matrix number)
- The label on the original is black and not shiny at all.
- There should be only about 1 mm between the copyright message on the edge of the label and the vinyl
- The contours on the label on the original are different to the fakes. See images at http://www.joydiv.org/iflfake.htm
- All originals are very heavy weight vinyl and somewhat dull in appearance, including the paper label. The sleeve is not shiny and under magnification, you can see very distinct dots, defining the graphics (some fakes are blurry under magnification)
The sleeve is crisp and white, showing no sign of discolouring. The vinyl is shiny and vibrant. The labels are matte and have some spindle marks on. There is a small (4mm) scratch on the B-side just inside the run-in groove, which does not affect play back.
