Mega-rare original 1974 pressing of this great Fluxus sound art performance involving 12 prepared pianos played by Hidalgo with assistance from fellow ZAJ founder Walter Marchetti. Includes original inner sleeve with additional artwork. This lp is listed in the Broken Music catalog of artists' record works.
Hidalgo is a composer and multimedia artist who studied under John Cage, Nadia Boulanger, David Tudor, and Bruno Maderna, was influenced by Zen Buddhism, Marcel Duchamp, Erik Satie, Buenaventura Durruti, and futurist F.T. Marinetti, worked with Max Neuhaus and Herman Nitsch, and with Walter Marchetti, Ramon Barce, and Esther Ferrer founded the ZAJ group (the Spanish wing of the Fluxus movement, associated with Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, George Maciunas, Milan Knizak, Joseph Beuys, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Philip Corner, Richard Maxfield, Emmett Williams, Paul Panhuysen, Takehisa Kosugi, La Monte Young, etc.). He was one of the artists of Gino di Maggio’s Galleria Multhipla and collaborates with Cramps label founder Gianni Sassi on the annual MILANO-POESIA festival. Marchetti is an Italian conceptual artist and experimental composer who worked with John Cage, Morton Feldman, Leopoldo La Rosa, Jose Luis Castillejo, and Bruno Maderna and attended the famous Darmstadt courses in the 50s alongside Stockhausen, Evangelisti, Nono, Boulez, Goeyvaerts, Messiaen, Ligeti, etc. This lp was released on the legendary Cramps label, home of the Nova Musicha and DIVerso series which also featured John Cage, Area, Fernando Grillo, Derek Bailey, Robert Ashley, Alvin Lucier, Demetrio Stratos, Mario Schiano, Steve Lacy, Cornelius Cardew, Gruppo Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza, Petr Kotik, etc. Check out my other items for more avant garde/experimental, early electronic/electroacoustic, prog, psych, space-age pop, 20th century classical, spoken word, and artist records. Packing - I pack professionally and with the utmost care drawn from years of experience trading vinyl internationally. I use new record mailers from Cameron Packaging (which I have determined are the best and most protective) reinforced with cardboard inserts and bubble wrap padding. All records are shipped with poly plastic sleeves. All packages are completely sealed with strong packing tape covering all openings. Unless requested, no paper invoice is included in the package, both to save trees and to avoid customs difficulties. If you'd like your package done any differently, just let me know.
