Description
Original UK Marmalade label mono press LP.The first album by the Trinity and probably their best, first released in October 1967. From 1965-6 Julie Driscoll sang with the Steampacket and as a solo artist, releasing occasional singles without success. It was after she joined another former Steampacket member Brian Auger, in his new band The Brian Auger Trinity in 1967 that she became the most fashionable figure on the pop scene and their recording of 'This Wheels On Fire' became the hit of the summer of 1968.
This is the original mono issue with the MacNeill Press Ltd sleeve, the second label variation with the Copyright Control & Marmalade Music label credits on side 2 and the A//1 B//1 matrices & 1-1-7 1-1-6 stampers of the first presses (see Discogs). The 'MacNeill Press Ltd' matt sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some light corner/edge wear & some light storage rubbing/creasing on both sides of the cover, but there is a small name in biro on the corner of the cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain inner is intact & in EX condition, but sorry, no insert! The record is in visually VG+ condition, with a few sleeve removal hairlines/scuffs and a couple of small needle marks visible each side. The labels are in EX condition, with a small initial in biro and evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings on each side side. The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with no loud hiss, pops or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some low, brief background noise during the run in grooves and briefly in a couple of the quieter passages. Overall, still a really great listen that plays much better than it looks. The matrix nos. are; 607002, A//1 stamper 1-1-7, B//1 stamper 1-1-6. This is one of the very early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1967 UK mono issue of this album!
