Description

Rare original U.S. mono pressing of Progressive Latin by Julio Gutierrez and His Orchestra, released on Gema Records LPG-3015. A deeply grooving Latin jazz gem featuring strong arrangements and a fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms with traditional jazz phrasing. This is a lesser-seen title in the Gema catalog and highly respected by collectors of vintage Latin instrumental records.

Includes moody takes on Guantanamera and Route 66, as well as high-energy originals like Cosa Buena and Yambambe. The album showcases Gutierrez’s versatility and forward-thinking orchestration—a key player in Cuba’s pre-revolution jazz movement, bringing that same flavor to this U.S. release.

A must-have for Latin jazz enthusiasts and crate diggers looking for rich, instrumental grooves beyond the mainstream.
