NOW!.... when we talk about quality PSYCHEDELIC records from the 1960's,
HOW many are REALLY worth their reputation or even the lable 'psychedelia'??
For my money, it's not just records like 'July' with their random bizarre cover that looks the part but turns out to be 'whimsy' and a couple of effects.
Not 'The Open Mind' with drudgery of sludgy guitar, leaden production and unimaginative arrangements. Not Rainbow Ffolly with imitations of Beatles mixed with Bonzo Dog Band amusement and one-play interest.
It IS more like it with 'Andwella's Dream' I would suggest, where the songwriting is quality, and thoughtful, it is with CZAR or Gracious and those heavy progressive sensibilities - and it certainly IS with THIS great LP! There's a rural kind of folk base to the music which will be down to Peter Daltrey's unforced, 'real' songwriting, but then embellished stylishly with wonderful and tastefully placed arranging and complimentary instrumentation.
Not focused on drug references at all, this is pure imagination and songwriting excellence at its' apex!!
It's not alienating and one-dimensional either, the songs are appreciably gentle enough and sensitive enough to appeal today, not embossed into period-music that's stuck in a time of its' own. Yet... it has baroque and renaissance reflections which suggest ancient influences and timeless art.
Heavy moments are appropriate to the whole, and without being a concept album - this evokes the feel of a consistent record without boring or becoming repetitive.
Some rarity - musically it's an absolute standout, a connoisseur's delight, music to revel in like something satisfactory to savour - let it release its' flavours within your ears, letting out fruity essences and measuring sumptuous weight of fluidity like the finest wine!!
Don't scorn my extolling of these virtues with wordy-winding enthusiasm - THIS is what we came her for, par excellence, beauty in rhymes and rhythms.
The food of love - absolutely gorgeous music!!

The vinyl is in MINT condition taking into account a few spindle lines on the lable that show it has been played (by me - and with top equipment only).
As has been well-documented with this issue, there IS a small area of misting that enters the first grooves for a couple of revolutions - it's believed to exist on almost every copy of this limited pressing (it didn't sell many copies!) and the result is a just-audible 'swish' for a split second.
The lables as mentioned - a few spindle-lines around the hole! NEAR MINT, no writing or stickers, clean as a whistle.
The laminated gatefold cover is VG++ to EX - this is a very sensitive very light constructed card cover. The lamination shows NO rubbing, there's seam-wear from storage, slight separation and one crease to the lamination on the rear lower opening edge. (this is not reflected on the inside card so I wonder if it only happened at time of the cover's construction).
I have carefully stored this LP within a gatefold plastic cover, especially to help keep it from wear.
