Description

‘The Abo Song’ was intended to be Kate’s first single of 1982, but when Bush/EMI belatedly discovered that the phrase had racist connotations, the title was hastily changed to ‘The Dreaming’.  However, a few test pressings had already escaped, and these had the original title, name of artist and catalogue number written by hand on the plain white label (see photo).

 

The disc’s run-out contains the following printed information: TOWNHOUSE EMI 5296 A-1U-1-1-1 (the matrix number of the officially released version ended 1-1-2 rather than 1-1-1), with “FOR ROLF” etched by hand (as opposed to machine-printed).  This is a single-sided pressing, with the B-side consisting only of a test pressing tone.  The disc comes in a plain black single sleeve, and is in Ex condition.

 

Please note that, in terms of the music, this is exactly the same version as the single that was released as ‘The Dreaming’.
