Kate Bush : The Kick Inside 4 / 2 1st UK Press 1978
This first pressing from plays to a very high standard with only a little background. S1 in fact plays with stunning quality, there is hardly any intrusion, and S2 has just a little more. One light click and some light statics on a couple of tracks also. Still a great listen though and of course it's a superb debut album.
The fully laminated G & L cover is in great condition with only some small laminate edge creases as is common, it has been so well cared for. The original EMI inner sleeve is in excellent condition also.

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy look with no scratches. Under a bright light I can only see a small number of ultra faint hairlines plus a couple of radial lines on S1 that have no affect on the audio. S2 is very similar with a handful of very small faint scuffs also - scuffs seems like too strong a word! Again they have no impact on the audio. The EMI labels are in great shape with no marking and only very minimal spindle wear.
Play Grading
The run in on S1 is very clean and the intro 'Moving' is superb with only a couple of barely audible statics. The first verse and chorus are as perfect as they are haunting! Kate's voice already so mature and classic. The second verse has just one minor tick and from then on it plays with stunning precision. A Mint- start to this classic album.
The segue into 'The Saxophone Song' is flawless and the opening vocal section is 'as new' with no intrusion. This standard is kept up as it progresses - sonically it is stunning and from start to finish I only heard one extremely quiet static. The closing instrumental plays without fault. Mint-
The piano intro and opening vocal on 'Strange Phenomena' play with great clarity and there are just two dull tick sounds towards the end of the first chorus. From then on it plays so clearly and I only 'picked' up a couple of minor statics. Overall the clarity is stunning and Near Mint- is deserved.
'Kite' plays with exceptional quality - every vocal and instrumental section is faultless. Mint
The piano intro on the classic 'The Man With The Child In His Eyes' plays beautifully and the opening is equal to that really with just one mega quiet static. The first chorus plays with great clarity and the next vocal has only a small number of barely audible statics. The second and final chorus is very similar - great sound with only some extremely quiet statics. A Near Mint- version.
The intro on the classic 'Wuthering Heights' has a handful of minor statics and the first vocal has just one minor tick near the beginning. The following chorus is flawless and the next verse has no background either. It continues to play so clearly but if I was being super critical there is just a touch of inner groove distortion but it really is very minimal and does not detract from what is a very impressive version. Near Mint- is again a fair assessment of the audio and the long fade out plays to perfection.

'James And The Cold Gun' plays with stunning precision from the get go. A perfect intro and opening vocal and perfect from then onwards. Real power and depth through every section including the quiet passage and Mint is deserved. You can see why EMI wanted this as the first single but it's just as well Kate got her way!
The piano intro on 'Feel It' has no background and the opening vocal has is very clean to start with but then has a handful of minor statics and one static click sound. The first chorus plays with genuine quality and from then on it plays very clearly with zero interference. The vast majority is Mint- but because of the one click I will say Ex+ overall.
'Oh To Be In Love' is superb through every section. Such a strong track and should have been a single! There is no intrusion and Mint- is deserved at the very least.
'L'Amour Looks Something Like You' is of the same high end standard with no interference. Clean and succinct audio from the first note to the last. Mint-
The opening vocal on 'Them Heavy People' is perfect and the first chorus is equally as strong and clear. It continues to play with exceptional quality - the clarity, depth and resonance of the audio is superb and Mint- is deserved... at the very least.
'Room For The Life' plays very clearly but is interspersed with some light static ticks here and there on the first half. The second half plays with superb audio and no intrusion. So Ex and then Mint- in equal measure.
'The Kick Inside' begins very quiet and yet the clarity is stunning. It continues in much the same way - there are only a handful of minor background statics and a couple of light ticks towards the end. An Ex+ version to end this classic debut album.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The laminated cover is in excellent condition with minimal shelf wear. The edges are so clean and the thin spine has no wear either aside from a couple of tiny corner 'rubs'. The right hand are in great shape also and the opening edge looks hardly touched. The front cover is unmarked and the only wear is some small laminate creases next to the top and bottom edge and the spine. I suppose I should mention one tiny white speck next to the opening edge! The back cover is just as impressive with some edge creases again mainly next to the spine. A fine example overall.
The die-cut paper inner has no side splits or tears, barely any marking and only some light creasing here and there.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
