KEMPY & THE GUARDIANS-45-“Love For A Price” b/w “Never”-Lucky Sounds 7-13 Records #LS-1006-KillerKool 1966 Dallas TEXAS Garage-Punk. NO need to describe this DYNAMITE record--Most of you know this from assorted comps over the years (TEXAS FLASHBACK etc)…If not, A side has the same chords as “99th Floor”-great semi-guttural lead vocal, Vox Continental-dominated, with Fender Reverbed guitar abound and a great and primitive lead guitar break—drummer is absolutely insane-driving and powerful---NOTE that this is the ORIGINAL VERSION of “Love For A Price”—it came out not much later on ROMUNDA Records: The FUZZ MONSTER version—this is NOT the FUZZ GUITAR VERSION--(though we have it—up sooner or later-keep a watchout)—This is the EARLIER version dominated by Vox Continental organ…Killer stuff. B side is a Vox Continental dominated harmless teen ballad.
Condition: Record is somewhere between VG and VG+. Closer to VG. Overall really decent copy-some very slight pin-head sized ‘blemishes’ if you will on B side, one or 2 small ones on A side…hardly noticeable, but more so on B side (‘Never’)--only in certain light angles; some slight paper scuffs/light scuffs visible in certain light angles as well. Some slight background noise on A side, mostly covered by loud content and hardly noticeable…background noise IS noticeable on the B side due to the balladesque/quiet content.
Label has a very small BB punch-actually smaller than BB-like a mini-BB punch…almost unnoticeable…VERY SLIGHT small discolor in one spot due to at one time was a small sticker…also a small red ‘x’ on A side (see photo).
