Description
Kenny Drew Undercurrent BLP 4059 Original Issue 1961. Please read the entire description and feel free to ask any qusetions and will do my best to answer.
My personal history with this album is from 2022 when I purchased it along with other Blue Note releases from the same era at an family estate auction after their vinyl collecting father passed away. At the time of purchase in 2022, the album was sealed in cellophane that was dry with a few handling cuts as well 3" opening on cellophane on the Jacket edge, see images 1,4,5 and last image 15. While doing my research to determine the release year, I reached out to some Blue Note collectors who informed me that the Original release would not have been cellophane sealed, yet this album appears to be the original release. They surmise that is was most likely previously opened and subsequently resealed for some period of time as the cellophane is dry with signs of age, and that they only way to determine release AND Condition is to open the album! See the video, yes it's lame, just attempting to show that prior to listing a "used" album, to my knowledge it had not previously been opened.
I have sold over 200 albums on eBay and have had numerous positive feedbacks on my vinyl rating, and upon visual inspection, I rated the vinyl as "NM" as it appears clean with no visible scratches, either side. I subsequently took the album to a local vinyl record store for their rating. They played the entire album and found one "squiggly" scratch that makes a "tick" but NO Skip on side 2 at the end of track 5 and into track 6 that lasts for about 25 seconds. SEE IMAGES 10 (super zoomed in), 11(zoomed in), and 12 (zoomed out) which were taken monochrome to attempt to limit glare. They also visually found a similar "circular" mark on side One that DID NOT make any tick or pop sound.
Because of the 25 second section with a 'tick", the record store rates the entire album at "VG" and the the balance without the 25 second section is "NM"! I'm somewhat familiar with the DG or no DG interest on Blue Note Record and
- this doe NOT have the Deep Groove on either side.
- "RVG" and the Ear are etched on the dead Wax.
