A decade has now passed since Glaswegian disco revivalist Al Kent dropped 'Come Back Home', a piano and sample-rich slice of 21st century disco piled high with authentic instrumentation. To mark a decade since the underground anthem's release, Kent has now re-made it with his Disco Love Orchestra - a nine piece live band whose ranks were swelled by the addition of an actual orchestra. As a result, 'Come Back Home (Again)' sounds like a mid-70s, proto-disco Philly Soul take on the sound, mixed by Tom Moulton - all layered live percussion, classic disco bass and guitar, eyes-closed vocal snippets and sweeping strings. The flipside 'Reprise' mix acts as a kind of dancefloor dub, with Kent alternating between soaring instrumentation and stretched-out, percussion-heavy drum breaks. A genuine triumph!
