KEVIN AYERS. WHATEVERSHEBRINGSWESING.UK VINYL LP.1st PRESS.HARVEST SHVL 800
Bought as part of a box sourced from someone’s loft, I already own this album. It’s a first pressing SVHL 1A/1B which I’ve attempted to picture.
Cover: This is in pretty good condition though the edges show signs of wear from being stored for so long! I’m no expert in these matters but I’d class it as VG+.
Vinyl: Cleaned on my own Okki Nokki machine, the vinyl now has a lovely sheen to it. There are a few hairline marks on side 2, visible if you tilt to the light, and only a couple on side 1.
Sound: Bright and crisp throughout. There’s the background crackle & hiss you’d expect of a 47 year old record during the quieter moments, but the overall effect of the listening experience isn’t filled by this. As far as I can discern, there aren’t any loud “pops” and the record doesn’t stick or jump. I’ve spot checked these marks using my Rega Planar 3/Elys3/Rogers set up. On a collectors scale I guess you’d be looking at Ex-/VG+. I’m not a dealer, and have many, many records in my collection which don’t sound this good.
General: I’d be happy to have this in my collection if I didn’t already own a better copy. I’ve listed this & two others from the box I bought, the rest I’ve cleaned and kept. Happy to answer any questions, provide further information or send individual pics if requested.
