Die Gitarrenzauberer John Scofield und Pat Metheny haben durchweg kommerziell erfolgreiche, zugängliche Musik gemacht, wobei sie ihren Improvisationneigungen treu geblieben sind. So ist es kein Wunder, dass ihre Zusammenarbeit so entspannt, flüssig und musikalisch heiter klingt. Die Hörer sollten nicht unbedingt eine Reihe aggressiver Duelle erwarten, aber auch keineswegs schales New Age oder rückschrittlichen Fusion. Scofield und Metheny teilen sich in die Pflichten der Komposition und spielen meisterhafte, ausdrucksstarke Soli. Gitarrenfans werden vom Mastering besonders beeindruckt sein, das die Gitarren von Scofield und Metheny klingen lässt, als wären sie mit im Raum. Selbst diejenigen, die Sessions ohne Bläser, Blechbläser bzw. Keyboards nicht sonderlich schätzen, sollten diesen Titel nicht verschmähen, es steckt noch viel Kraft darin.

“Guitar wizards John Scofield and Pat Metheny have consistently made commercially successful, accessible music while remaining true to their improvisational leanings. It's no surprise that their collaboration sounds so relaxed, fluid, and musically serene. Listeners shouldn't necessarily expect a series of slashing duels, but it's certainly not vapid new age or retrograde fusion. Scofield and Metheny divide compositional duties and play masterful, expressive solos. Guitar fans will be especially impressed with the mastering, which makes Scofield and Metheny's guitars sound right in the room. Even those who don't like sessions without horns, brass, or keyboards shouldn't spurn this one; it still has plenty of muscle.
