Description

Rare vinyl pressing of Chicago Class Of 85 on Silver Fin Records which may be the rarest metal label ever. This is a compilation of Chicago bands that were popular at the time. Side one is okay & is mostly rock. Side two is as good as metal gets. It opens with Paradoxx doing Night Ryder. Try to find their e.p. It'll cost you about $1,000.00. The band scrapped all but 50 copies & how many of those 50 are actually still out there. These guys are probably the best metal band I've ever heard. Glen Doobs has a voice that is made for heavy metal. He wails & screams as John Dobbs shreds the speakers with some of the most amazing guitar shards I've ever heard. He tortutred that guitar with riffs that would make a metal head bow down at the end of each song. The rest of the band was right there with them. The third song is Marching Off To War by the legendary Hammeron. If I recall their l.p. fetched upwards of $1,000.00 at one time too. I believe it's not quite as rare as Paradoxx but they also play with the best of them. Hammeron is another band you have to hear to believe. Fortunately I have links to the Paradoxx & Hammeron songs below. Judge for yourself if you haven't heard them before. Killer old school Chicago metal. The fifth and last song is You Got It,Let's Go! by The Griff Band. Never heard these guys nor have I ever even heard of them. The year 1985 was my year to howl too & I lived in the south suburbs of Chicago. I can't believe I missed all of these bands. Anyway, The Griff Band is an in your face, monster guitar band. I'm not sure if they put out an l.p. I wish they did. The second tune on this side is RLTS by Tough Love. These guys rock hard & fast. They border on metal with killer chick vocals & some excellent guitar work that must have put some blisters on the fingertips of the lead guitarist, Other bands on the comp. that are not near as notable as those I mentioned are: Broken Heart, Risk!, Ten-Twenty-Eight, Dartagnan, Illicit, & Person To Person. These are also talented bands but not in the metal zone. I'm sure if you're reading this ad, that metal is your thing. The cover of this l.p. is VG+. There is a small sticker tear in the upper right corner & a bit of sticker residue. The vinyl is VG++. It wouldn't matter if it was only G. It's so loud that you wouldn't notice any noise from scratches. Ther's nothing on this vinyl that qualifies for a scratch though. Good luck on winning this 2 ounce vinyl slab of metal history. The song links are below as is what little info. I found on the internet.

...or The Rarest Metal Label evah'! as it is also known. The proverbial "Man Behind The Curtain" here was a certain Tony "The Shark" LaBarbera, manager of Shark Entertainment/Shark Studios, which managed and booked gigs for many Chicago Metal/Hard Rock hopefuls back in the days. The word was that if you played in a Metal/Hard Rock band in Chicago in the mid-80's and wanted gigs, LaBarbera was one of the essential names you'd wanna keep in your to phone directory (for better or worse - I'll refrain from passing on vicious rumours..)
Obviously there had to be a record label connected to this "conglomerate". This label was Silver Fin Records.
The exact reason why the releases of the label are so rare today are the usual: The editions of the albums were kept short in order for Mr. LaBarbera to cut corners (500 tops, according to rumors), proper distribution wasn't even on the menu, and the ever-so-familiar-and-legendary PARADOXX mlp could more or less be considered "unreleased", since the band scrapped all but circus 50 copies because of a layout f@ck-up. Combined with a fairly consistent Metalmusical quality, this is basically what have rendered their six (6) sole vinyl releases their legendary status in collector circles today.
Still, if you think those vinyls are a bitch to find, don't even dream about tracking down the 20+ CD and tape-releases that followed. They might not be as pricey as the vinyl, should you ever come across them, but the editions are most likely miniscule and the info barely nonexistent. While plenty of them might be off-topic aor/classic rock/doG-knows-what sorts of crap, they are a must for the real collector.

( I ship on Saturdays. If you pay me after 1:30 p.m. on a Saturday, your l.p. will not be shipped until the next Saturday.)

Leave me feedback and I will return the courtesy. Delivery confirmation is a must and is worked into the cost of shipping. I accept Paypal only. Gold, precious stones and your first born can be negotiated. If paying by Paypal, payment is expected within 3 days unless other arrangements are made. Insurance will be provided upon request and is to be paid for by the customer. My overseas customers are very important to me and have given me a lot of support. However, I cannot be responsible for uninsured packages. I do pack well and in a professional manner with standard record mailers. I also place a cardboard support inside the mailer for protection and to help prevent any bending. Records are removed from their covers and both are placed in a protective, clear plastic outer sleeve. It's a tried and true method that has never been improved upon. I do offer refunds if the item you won is not as described. I ship every Saturday.
