Description

You are bidding on a copy of a rare, very early two track, in line stereo reel to reel tape.

The tape is titled "Thru Them Swingin' Doors - Honky Tonk Piano" by Kim Cusack, and was released by the Livingston company.

There is no date on the tape itself, but there are three vintage inserts which came with it (see above), one of which is dated April, 1958. 

The tape is a two track stereo release, putting it at the dawn of stereo recording. It runs about 15 minutes. 

I do not actually have a two track reel to reel machine, and listened to this tape on a standard four track stereo model. It plays extremely well, but I was only hearing half of each track's signal. I can post a segment of the tape (as played on my machine) if anyone is interested. There is a split-second drop out in sound on one channel about three seconds before the tape ends. This is present in one channel in both directions on my four track machine, indicating this is very likely a factory glitch. 

The box is in very good condition, with minor shelf wear throughout.
