KINDRED SPIRIT - Put Your Spirit Up AFRO BEAT PROTO 1982 DEEP HOUSE 7 inch

Kindred Spirit & Corina Flamma Sherman – Put Your Spirit Up

Human Records 1982 (UK) – AM 120

This obscure little Afrobeat / proto deep house 7 inch from the UK is the BOMB! A percussion driven song with vocal dub elements and an eery vibe to it, it's proper proto deep house that sounds like it was produced yesterday yet the world was just coming out of the 1970s…

The groove is laid by two of Afrobeat/funk's grand men: Gasper Lawal (Nigeria) and Mike Odumusu (Ghana, of Osibisa fame) while the mysterious Corina Flamman Sherman takes her role as a vocalist seriously and adding some synth touches (she designed the sleeve too which is worth the price alone). Deejays play this on the dancefloor and shock the crowd.

B side is like a reworked instrumental of the other side - both are great in their own right!

This single is very hard to find and by now it's sought after both by afrobeat enthusiasts and deep house fanatics, so make sure you set your bids.
