Description
1970 Island ILPS 9141,1st pressing with the E.J.Day Group outer laminated gatefold sleeve, pink rim labels with palm tree logo and dead wax stampers A-2U & B-2U.
The sleeve is clean, sharp and solid. Nice square corners and no edge rub to speak of. No seam splits, rips, tears or writing. The matt inside shows some grubbiness and age foxing but overall this is one nice example. I reckon it's worthy of 8.5 out of 10 for condition.
Both the labels are super clean as shown. I've looked closely under a bright light with a magnifying glass at the centre holes and I can't see any spindle 'snail' tracking to indicate the vinyl has ever seen a turntable.
As such the record playing surfaces look very clean even under the aforementioned bright light. It really is one beautiful example. But it's not mint and can't be because it's nearly 50 years old so expect the odd ever so faint storage scuff (although I'm struggling to see one). So let's give the vinyl 9 /10 for condition in deference to its' age.
The flat and shiny disc measures 151g on my scale so is of medium weight.
And the original Island inner sleeve is polythene lined with a nice weight to it. Although wrinkled it's strong and solid and clean if you understand and accept the glue browning is solely down to age.
In summary therefore we have an unplayed record albeit five decades old of which such passing of time is essentially reflected in the age browning of the two sleeves.
