The late 1960's progressive psych era spawned some especially interesting and groundbreaking music, THE best example of which is this recording.
This example set a new high bar for everything that came afterwards, it cannot be overstated - and ranks as the prime progressive rock record in history of music!
Robert Fripp instigated and conducted the incredible proceedings, and we simply marvel at where and how this majestic concept even came to be - nothing compared to it, instrumentally or lyrically! The astonishing fiction in Pete Sinfield's writing is fascinating, it's a work of genius indeed. The vocal brilliance of Greg Lake is outstanding, and with the percussion from Michael Giles and sweeping keyboards and wonderful woodwind and flute abilities from Ian McDonald - wow, it's still difficult to take in that this was from the sixties (and The Beatles were still together!).
The white 'I' PINK ISLAND lable is the original pressing issue, after which came the most commonly found 'Palm Tree' pink rim design.
Even the artwork is iconic, and the young artist sadly died before he could realise how significant his work would become.
CONDITION;
The VINYL is EX to NEAR MINT.
Great shine, and a BEAUTIFUL copy.
There's a short mark into the beginning of 'Moonchild' that pops for a couple of revolutions, a pressure mark visible near the start, after which everything plays and sounds superb.
The LABLES are VG++.
The heavy GATEFOLD LAMINATED THICK CARD COVER is VG+, the manufacture had slightly misaligned the front with the inner gate card, and the original owner penned his name and telephone number on the rear.
Overall flat and clean, still a solid example.
