Description
IMPORTANT NOTE:
I`ve been buying records online for quite some time and gained an extensive experience as a buyer on how to properly grade records as I`ve had enough confusion with improper descriptions. Now it is time to start selling some of my stuff. So my grading below is from the buyer`s standpoint on how I`d like records should be graded to have buyers got what they read in the item description !!! Grading is based on the Record Collectors Grading System.
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BELOW CAREFULLY !!!
Catalogue # ILPS 9111. The matrices A2/B3.
This is an original 1969 UK STEREO 1st PRESSING on the PINK ISLAND RECORD LABEL, with 1st ISSUE E. J. DAY unlaminated gatefold sleeve. Complete with the polylined inner sleeve.
The sleeve is in EX condition with just light storage wear to the edges and the corners (see pictures) having no creases. The spine is showing some wear and unheavy scuffs but fully readable. The front and back covers and opening gatefold spread are unmarked. The inside of gatefold looks almost perfect. There are no rips, splits, writing or any other serious defects. Overall this is a well preserved example of this outstanding sleeve.
Now on the vinyl. The good news is that the vinyl is visually in strong EX condition having no scratches just surface tiniest hairlines not affecting play. I have played it in full and can assure that overall playback is with no jumps, skips, pops and with just some background noise not at all irritating.
The bad news however is that right in the middle of Moonchild track there is a well hearable hiss lasting for about 2 minutes which origin is totally unclear to me, it may well be a factory fault. It suddenly appears and then same suddenly fades away otherwise it plays fine. Hence, the Moonchild track grades VG+ and the rest of the record grades strong EX.
The Pink Island labels with white “I” logos are unmarked with only a few hardly visible under strong halogen light spindle traces each side. There is virtually no wear to the spindle hole.
It has been in my collection for years and not been played much as I know the music by heart. I have recently upgraded it so this one goes up for sale. Overall this is a truly collectable 1st press copy of King Crimson’s truly outstanding album.
PACKAGING
LPs are packaged in a manner to ensure safe traveling using stiffeners and professional envelopes to ensure safe arrival in the same condition as they leave. Records are removed from the sleeve in order to prevent seam splits in transit.
