Description
This is a rare 1st pressing vinyl LP copy of "In The Court of the Crimson King" by King Crimson released in 1969 on the Island label (ILPS 9111). It has an E J Day designed gate fold sleeve and pink textured Island “I” logo labels.
I class the outer gate fold sleeve as "Very Good Minus”. There is light edge wear to top and bottom edges and to the spine, which is mostly legible. There is light bump wear to all 4 corners. There is light mottling/spotting to outer and inner covers. There is no evidence of ring wear. The outer cover would grade much higher but there are 2 small tears to the back cover (see photos).
The disc itself I would visually grade as "Very Good" as it retains its lustre but it has a number of visible scuff marks. There is 1 more noticeable mark to side 1 track 3. However, on playback this mark has little effect on the audio. It does produce some light background noise and an occasional pop but the album suffers from no skips or jumps and the rest of the play through grades a solid “Very Good”. There is no warping, and the disc lies and spins flat.
I would grade the labels as "Excellent Minus". There is no evidence of spindle wear, only very slight rub marking and some very minor spotting (see photos).
The anti static inner sleeve I would grade as “Very Good Plus”. There is minor spotting and creasing but no damage.
Matrix: Side 1: “ILPS 9111 A?2” stamps “12” and “5”
Side 2: “ILPS 9111 B//4” stamps “11” and “4”
Classifications in accordance with Record Collector Magazine's Record Collector Grading System and are possibly slightly pessimistic compared to some other sellers/collectors.
