Description

HERE is a rare first UK stereo pressing of King Crimson's incredible debut LP, In The Court Of The Crimson King, on the pink island label from 1969. This is a true first pressing with A2/B2 matrices, considered to be the most dynamic pressing of this title.

The iconic gatefold sleeve, equally as dramatic as the music housed within, bears the first press E J Day printing credit and retains its vibrant colouring. The sleeve is in strong VG condition with fully readable spinal text and no unwanted writing, no tears and no rips or creases but just some acceptable edge and corner wear, some light rubbing, light ringwear and some minor hard-to-see scrapes and indentations - overall a very presentable example of this vulnerable unlaminated cover.

The heavily textured and grooved pink island labels, with thin raised 'stereo island records' banding around the circumference, are only to be found on the very first pressings of this iconic album, and this pair of labels are also in comfortable VG+ condition with no unwanted writing, no sticker residue and no tears, while close examination under light reveals spindle marks showing a moderate amount of play.

Both sides of the vinyl (VG-) look great in normal light while several light hairline and scuff marks show up when examined under strong halogen light. The disc plays all the way through, both sides, with no skips or jumps, but with various light clicks and pops and light background noise here and there. The sound and the stereo separation is tremendous.

Thanks for looking and good luck if you are bidding.

PLEASE NOTE: I carefully pack vinyl with records removed from covers.
