KING CRIMSON ''IN THE WAKE OF THE POSEIDON''

1st UK PRESSING CAT NO ILPS 9127 ORIGINAL ISLAND PINK 'I' LABELS!!!  THIS IS AN ARCHIVE COPY! BARELY EVER PLAYED (NO MORE THAN A HANDFUL OF TIMES EVER)!!  NEAR MINT BOTH THE VINYL AND THE COVER! EARLIEST A#1 and B#1 MATRIX! EARLIEST E.DAY & CO. COVER NEAR MINT! NEVER SEEN LIKE THIS!  38 YEARS OLD!

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST AUDIO EVER HEARD THROUGHOUT!

Here is another from my personal collection, collected over a period of more than 45 years and I have acumilated more than 49000 albums alone (mainly UK pressings only)! This mega rare archive copy has barely been played a minimal of times from new and has been stored in a case for at least 35 years with the vinyl sleeve separated from the cover for protection! This is how I have always stored my records! Apart from the Absolutely stunning appearance of this album what makes this unique and very collectable is the stunning cristal clear and almost as perfect audio quality almost impossible to find like this! King Crimson albums feature many quiet and slow tracks and only the best vinyls are worth listening to in my opinion! Please note! It is easy to be critical about these early Island issues (especially the King Crimson issues), many were pressed poorly and sound horrible and it is very scarce to find a copy that sounds acceptable without so much background crackle that is so often heard on these originals in the quieter places.  This is probably one the best that you could possibly  find in my opinion! I would class myself as highly critical Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!

In the Wake of Poseidon (1970) This is the second album by the progressive rock group King Crimson!. By the time this album was released, the band had already undergone their first change in lineup, however they still maintained much of the style of their first album, In the Court of the Crimson King!!.

Also like their first album, the mood of this album often changes from serene to chaotic. The album opens with a poetic vocal piece called "Peace ñ A Beginning", which is reprised instrumentally in the middle of the album and vocally again at the end. "Pictures of a City" was originally performed live, often extended to over ten minutes and was called "A Man. A City." An example of such a performance can be found on the live album Epitaph!.

The longest track on the album is a chaotic instrumental piece called "The Devilís Triangle", which was built around quotations from Gustav Holst's "Mars: Bringer of War" from his The Planets Suite. King Crimson would have called the piece Mars, as they had performed it on tour in the 1969 lineup, but were forbidden by the composer's legal estate.

In 1971, a brief excerpt from "The Devilís Triangle" was featured on the BBC television series Doctor Who. Also, the track samples the chorus from "The Court of the Crimson King", the title track from the band's first album!.

The Album Cover!

The work is called "The 12 Archetypes" or "The 12 Faces Of Humankind". The colour pictures were painted by Tammo De Jongh in 1967!

The Matrix

Side 1 ''ILPS 9127 A#1'' (Earliest ever1st UK pressing)

Side 2 ''ILPS 9127 B#1'' (Earliest ever 1st UK pressing)

(VERY RARE (NO) MOTHER STAMPERS ON BOTH SIDES VERY EARLY PRESSING)

The Vinyl

This is the original thick chunky and deeper grooved type of vinyl only found on original and earliest pressings! (Later press are much more flimsier and less robust! On initial inspection the vinyl looks like New! I can barely see a blemish at all and all visable signs are that this has barely ever been played at all, at least just a minimal amount of times! Very very rare to ever find! any marks that could possibly be seen would be sleeve removal, perhaps the odd light minor surface scuff  only but importantly no needle or audio sounding scratches that would cause any loud clicks or pops.!

The Audio!

I will just give a breif description on the audio quality as I heard it because in my opinion it played absolutely very near as faultless and was absolutely stunning on all frequences! I have played this vinyl track for track at very loud volume on a top system!  Normaly it is quite exceptable and common to have static crackle\ticks during the play of this album beacause some of these Island seventies pressings are notorious for faults, (Please allow for isolated background noise in quiet places only, common on these pressings) but this vinyl is as near perfect sounding on my system and I was blown away with the clarity and superbe audio seperation!! I will state that this is as good as you will ever find in my personal opinion! Please note! I have heard many many copies of this album and have in my collection other originals but this record is up there as one of the best that I have ever heard!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for isolated static tick/ticks or isolated light minor background crackle not consistant through out the audio. Please remenber that this is a genuine 42 year old record that would have originally been played on a 42 year old system.

The labels

These are the original and earliest Island pink 'I' labels virtually as new condition with just a minimal amount of spider marks that can only be seen angled to the light only! This looks like it has only ever been played a minimal of times ever, perhapes only a handfull only! Look! You can still even see the plastic in the spindle hole! Unbelievably rare to find!

The Cover.

This is the original 1st uk press E.DAY & CO TEXTURED GATEFOLD COVER! (unlaminated) These are mega hard to keep in good condition often seen in a terrible state! This looks very near perfect apart from minor corner bumping on one corner to mention ! With (no) splits tares and amaizingly (no) main of nasty creases to mention! Any rubbing is very minimal only worth to mention at the edges or at the spine quite unbeleivable to   find like this! Minor small bumping only at one corner on the front !  Must be at least excellent plus!

This album is an archive copy never ever need to upgrade! The best audio that you will ever find  1st UK pressing!
