Description

A great opportunity to buy a FIRST PRESSING VINYL LP from the 1960s by King Crimson called "In The Court Of The Crimson King (An Observation By King Crimson)".

This is a U.K. pressing released in October 1969 on the Island label (ILPS 9111) (stereo) and has 5 tracks (see photos for track listings).

The matrix numbers in the dead wax are:- ILPS 9111 A 2 1 2 9 (side one) and ILPS 9111 B // 3 1 1 1 2 (side two).

The vinyl is in a clean condition. I always examine and grade records under a bright table lamp and visually there are several light surface marks evident on both sides. I have played the whole of both sides and side one is lovely and plays as EXCELLENT. However on side two there are several clicks at the very beginning (approximately 15 revolutions) and from the second track onward, it clicks for the remaining duration of the record. It is a real shame that side two lets down side one's quality and I can only give it an overall grading of GOOD condition.

The pink labels are clean apart from small initials written on side two. There are faint spindle marks on the centre of the labels, noticeable when tilted towards the light.

The record is flat and has no warps of any description.

The vinyl is housed within a plain white die-cut inner sleeve in an EXCELLENT condition considering its age.

The gatefold picture cover is in a GOOD condition overall. The corners, edges and spine suffer from shelf-wear and the printing on the spine is only partially readable (see photo). There are two names written on the top of the back cover. The inside of the gatefold is clean. There is a credit for the printers E.J.Day, London on the bottom corner.

This is a highly collectable Progressive Rock LP and should be of interest to avid collectors.

The pictures shown are of the actual item.
