Description
This is an extremely rare LP. It's a UK stereo pressing entitled 'In The Wake Of Poseidon' by King Crimson. It was released in 1970 and is the band's second album. The catalogue number is ILPS 9127. This is a first pressing featuring the A//1 - B//1 matrix numbers on the two run-off grooves. This album is a must for all serious collectors of great rock music. This version features the original pink 'i' labels.
OUTER SLEEVE - The textured gatefold sleeve which is in superb condition with some very minor wear on the front and rear. The inner portion of the sleeve is in beautiful condition The top and bottom edges show virtually no wear and are in overall superb condition. This sleeve often turns up in adamaged condition, not this one. All the edges are in fine condition with minor wear. The spine shows virtually very minor creasing due to the gatefold being opened and the wording along the spine is 100% readable. It states n the inner portion of the gatefold sleeve - 'Engineer Robin Thompson - assistant Engineers Jeff & Tony - Studio Wessex Sound, London - Sleeve Design & Inside Painting Peter Sinfield - Typography Virginia - Cover Painting 12w Archetypes Tammo de Jongh - Produced and directed by Robert Fripp & Peter sinfield for EG Records - All songs published by EG Music Ltd C - Printed and made by the EJ Day Group, London and Bedford'. I've graded the sleeve Ex+.
INNER SLEEVE - This is a white diecut paper type with a polythene liner. It states at the bottom of one side - 'PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS...ETC.' - British Patent No. 800513 & 973939 - MADE IN ENGLAND B1/0470. I have graded the inner bag Ex.
LYRIC INSERT - This is white with red wording and it is fine condition. There are some very minor creases, otherwise it is almost perfect. I've graded it Ex+.
RECORD - This stereo record is in lovely condition. There are some minor surface marks on both sides but these result in some minor surface noise. There are definitely no jumps or skips on either side. The labels which are the pink Island textured type with the white 'i' logo and are in fine condition. There are some minor spindle marks on both labels. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are - side one - ILPS 9127 A//1 12 1 - side two - ILPS 9127 B//1 1 3 2. I have graded the record as Ex and believe that this is very fair.
