KING SOLOMON & STONE COAL WHITE RATED X - PEOPLE'S/FREE [Ewing 100]
Label: Ewing 100 Titles: "People's" & "Free"
The Ohio based psych rock group Stone Coal White Rated X, based out of Ohio, was recently treated to a CD release in 2011. On it is the track "People's." This rare cut features vocals by King Solomon in a Janis Joplin inspired soulful cry for freedom. "Free" is an instrumental rock riff with leads by Tommy Mundy. The band has a very interesting back story. They were an R&B group who turned their backs to the Motown style and disco driven trends and turned to deep rooted blues. Their shows often touched on social commentary and at the time were so racy, they actually had to add Rated X to their band name.
The record itself is interesting. Instead of an A or B side, the sides are labelled "Love" and "Sorrow." The label also has no record number, but 100 is etched in the interior vinyl.
The record itself has a clean label with little ring wear and no writing or stickers. There is a darker mark on the "Free" side to the left of the title. The vinyl is in very good condition. There are signs of play wear, but they do not impact play. There is some background noise, which actually surprised me as the record looks cleaner then it sounds (I think it might be my record player). You can listen to the actual record listed here.

*Please note - my turntable is a simple ION Profile LP simply for converting media. It is by no means a high end turntable and the sound quality will be MUCH better on a higher end turn table.
