Here is a lovely original copy of one of the rarest and most sought after albums by The Kinks - 'The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society'. The lovely bit applies to the vinyl … a lovely near pristine slab of original vinyl in a chewed up sleeve, I'm afraid. First the good news: this is an original 1968 stereo UK copy of Village Green Preservation Society on the heaviest first pressing blue Pye label (NSPL 18233) with first pressing A3/B4 matrices. Some say the stereo version is much harder to locate than the mono, and the presence here of the stereo-stickered mono sleeve seems to bear this out. This original disc is virtually flawless ? an easy EX+ (UK Record Collector grading). I can see no marks, blemishes, flaws whatsoever. Just a beautiful shiny black slab of original vinyl. The beautiful pastel blue and black Pye labels show only the very wispiest of spindle marks (certainly no spindle 'wear'), showing this disc has enjoyed very very little play. The heavyweight disc lies perfectly flat on the turntable and performs brightly with great clarity. It is utterly remarkable - aural bliss. If you need to upgrade your Village Green vinyl don't miss this chance. Now the bad news … the flimsy original stereo-stickered laminated gatefold sleeve has certainly suffered over the last 42 years. It has dreadful wear and tear along the top edge of the front and there are various other defects at top and bottom of the spine plus some laminate damage. Check out my pictures for the full awful story. So, nice vinyl - shame about the sleeve. Here then is a wonderful copy of the original disc of 'The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society' housed in a poor gatefold that will at least keep your precious disc safe until you find a mint sleeve!
