KISS

"ALIVE!"

The HOLY GRAIL of “Alive!” editions worldwide!!!

2 Single LPs!!!

The first to tell about this set is that all the KISS albums released in Chile by Quatro Ltda. Records are extremely rare and hard to find because not many copies were pressed in Chile, Quatro Ltda. Records also imported the album from Brazil. Some KISS albums released in Chile by Quatro Ltda. Records were pressed in Chile but the covers made in Brazil and they also imported the covers from Brazil for some second pressings when they were overpassed for the demand.

In the case of “ALIVE!” the level of rarity is even higher because here in Chile Quatro Ltda. Records decided to release the double album like separate single LPs!!! Yes Sirs, single LPs!!! The first of them was released in 1976 with the name “Alive!” (also called “Part One”) and it’s the second record of original “Alive!” (beware of the sellers who inform it’s the first record, it means they don’t know the album or they have not heard the record). In 1977, the second part, “Alive! Part Two”, was released in Chile with an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE showing the faces of all KISS members on stage. It’s the first record of original “Alive!”. These records, “Alive!”, released by Quatro Ltda. Records, are considered the RAREST PRESSING of “Alive!” worldwide!!! And “Alive! Part Two” is one of the most collectible KISS albums worldwide, one of the hardest to find, a top rarity!!!

It’s also important to tell that in both cases we got 2 different versions, with single and gatefold covers!!! In the case of “Alive!” (“Part One”) Quatro Ltda. Records released the record with a single cover printed in Chile and with a gatefold cover printed in Brazil and the record is also in 2 versions: thick and thin vinyl. In the case of “Alive! Part Two”, Quatro Ltda. Records also released the record with single and gatefold covers, but both covers were printed in Chile!!!

WHAT A GREAT SET!!!

KISS – “ALIVE!” (called “Part One”) – Gatefold Cover

This LP corresponds to the second record of original double album “Alive!” and has UNIQUE black Casablanca Records labels with silver lettering, catalog number LP-CAS-8002, matrix numbers LP-CAS-8002-A EB-CD in Side 1 and LP-CAS-8002-B EB-CD in Side 2. The vinyl is thick and has the date of pressing etched in the deadwax: “13-10-76” (October 13 of 1976).

As already informed, this record has the cover printed in Brazil and in Brazil “Alive!” was released like a double album. So, in front cover is a rounded red sticker “VOLUMEN 1” and in back cover is a white rectangle sticker hiding the tracklist of sides “One” and “Two” (remember in Chile this record is the second record of original “Alive!”): “PRODUCIDO Y DISTRIBUIDO POR QUATRO” (Produced and distributed by Quatro). The sticker in this record is partially removed (some past owner wanted to discover the songs hidden) but it’s still there.

The gatefold cover is in VG or VG+ condition, clean, no missing parts, no rips, only a faint ring mark, some minimal wear, residues of a price sticker in front cover, wear in the middle of the spine and all the bottom flip of the front cover is unglued, not really a problem, it’s something easy to repair. The record is in strong VG- or VG condition, glossy and clean but with loads of light hairlines, scuffs and light scratches which don’t affect sound at all. Labels on both sides are in EX or EX+ condition in the Side 1, absolutely clean and clear but with some spindle wear and someone wrote a name even though it’s hard to see. The sound is in strong EX or EX+ condition, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only some very light crackles and clicks here and there which don’t distract at all (most of it plays in NM- condition), and in VG or VG+ condition the Side 2. Overall a great record with a not s good look but with a sound quality still incredible nice after 35 years.

KISS – “ALIVE! PART TWO” – Gatefold Cover

This LP correspond to the first record of the original double album “Alive!”, it has coloured Casablanca Records labels and catalog number LP-CAS-8009, with matrix numbers LP-CAS-8009-A EB-CD in Side 1 and LP-CAS-8009-B EB-CD in Side 2. In the deadwax is also etched the date of pressing: “28-3-77” (March 28 of 1977). Cover has an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE with a completely different artwork, a set of 4 pictures of all KISS members on stage. This gatefold cover is made in Chile by “IRT”, which you can read in the right bottom corner of inside cover with red lettering, “Impreso por IRT – Santiago de Chile” (Printed by IRT – Santiago of Chile). In back cover, in the upper right corner is the Quatro Ltda. Records logo (“Quatro”) with “Serie Super Lujo” (Super Deluxe Serie) written under the logo. On inside cover is a set of 14 pictures of Kiss live between flames at each side of the inside cover.

As you must know, this is the RAREST PRESS of “Alive!” versions worldwide and one of the rarest KISS albums, a TOP RARITY, specially in this condition. The cover is in VG or VG+ condition, complete, no rips, no missing parts, all sides solid but with ring marks, creases and wear in the mouth and all sides and certainly heavy wear in the spine, but, I repeat, all sides are solid with no rips at all. Record is in VG or VG+ condition, loads of scuffs and hairlines and some light scratches which don’t affect sound at all. Labels in both sides are in EX+ or NM- condition, clean and clear. The sound is maybe the best part, it’s in superb EX- or EX condition, with only light crackles and some soft pops here and there which don’t distract at all from the great sound of this record. Overall, a TOP RARITY in still a great condition  for serious collectors who know this record is a MUST in almost any condition. Not for Minty minds but Yes for any KISS collector worldwide, “ALIVE! PART TWO” released in Chile by Quatro Ltda. Records with UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE and GATEFOLD COVER!!!

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
