KISS – Double Platinum

Casablanca / Priceless PRID 8 (UK, 1982)

Embossed Silver Foil Gatefold • “Chappel” Misprint • Collector Copy

This is the scarce 1982 UK PRID 8 reissue of Double Platinum, released as part of the “Priceless Double Albums” campaign. Unlike the standard U.S. version, this edition features the embossed silver foil gatefold cover and includes the documented “Chappel Music Ltd” misprint on the sleeve credits (corrected as “Chappell” on the labels).

⸻

Features

   •   Embossed silver foil gatefold cover with raised “KISS / DOUBLE PLATINUM” lettering

   •   Catalog number PRID 8 (Priceless Double Albums series, UK 1982)

   •   Misprint variant: sleeve credits list Chappel Music Ltd instead of Chappell

   •   Casablanca “desert scene” labels with corrected credit

   •   Inner gatefold advert for other Priceless double LPs (Rush, Thin Lizzy, Elton John, etc.)

⸻

Condition

   •   Vinyl: Near Mint — glossy surfaces, excellent playback, minimal handling.

   •   Cover: NM/NM — one of the cleanest PRID 8 foil covers I’ve handled. Foil still shines, spine crisp, gatefold clean.

   •   Labels: Immaculate, no spindle wear, no writing.

This is genuinely the nicest PRID 8 I’ve owned.

⸻

Track Listing

Side A: Strutter ’78 / Do You Love Me / Hard Luck Woman / Calling Dr. Love

Side B: Let Me Go, Rock ’N’ Roll / Love Gun / God of Thunder / Firehouse

Side C: Hotter Than Hell / I Want You / Cold Gin / Beth

Side D: Rock and Roll All Nite / Detroit Rock City / King of the Night Time World / Shout It Out Loud

(Includes the noted “Chappel” misprint on credits, unique to this pressing.)

⸻

Collector Notes

   •   The PRID 8 UK embossed foil edition is far scarcer than the U.S. NBLP-7100 release.

   •   My previous PRID 8 copies have consistently sold in the $200–$250 range.

   •   This copy is the best condition I’ve ever had, making it a top-tier collector piece.
