Description
The 2014 German vinyl reissue of Kiss's Music from "The Elder" (full title: (Music From) The Elder) is part of Universal Music's "Back to Black" series, pressed on 180-gram black vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.
This edition features high-definition remastering (from 192kHz/24-bit sources) for improved fidelity, with the intended conceptual track order (unlike some original 1981 pressings that had sequencing errors).
Due to German market sensitivities, the cover uses the censored "KIZZ" logo (with altered "SS" letters) and a slightly modified doorknocker artwork on the iconic hand-with-doorknocker front cover.
It reproduces the original gatefold design faithfully otherwise, including inner sleeves, though some copies note a tight paper inner sleeve.
Reviews praise the sound as a significant upgrade over the 1981 original, especially for dynamic tracks, though quieter passages can reveal surface noise on certain pressings.
If there is a round sticker on the shrink wrap, it is easily removed with goo gone. I used these stickers for cataloging.
